Driver Training Services is looking for professional driving instructors! We are a private training school licensed by the PA Department of Education and a National Safety Council Official Training Center. We provide classroom, behind-the-wheel and simulator training to build safe drivers, and we’ve been doing it since 1996. We offer programs for teens, seniors and commercial drivers, as well as specialized education for everything from forklifts to school buses.
No experience necessary! We’ll train you to be a great driving instructor. We’re looking for people with patience, an ability to relate well with teenagers and adults alike, an outgoing personality and good customer service skills (our instructors are the face of our school, after all). At Driver Training Services, we focus on building safe, defensive driving techniques – we’re not one of these fly-by-night operations that just trains kids to pass the test. So our instructors must share our commitment to safe driving.
As a professional driving instructor, you set your own hours – work as much or as little as your schedule allows. Our instructors work anywhere from 4-30 hours each week, depending on their availability and the current number of students. We’re looking for people who are comfortable teaching students behind-the-wheel in one of our late-model dual-control training cars, in our state-of-the-art virtual-reality driving simulators and in the classroom. If you’ve got some teaching or counseling experience, that’s great. If your background includes customer service or safety training, that’s great too. Already a professional driver? That’s also a great fit.
The training and certification period can take a month or two, so act now to be working as soon as possible. We offer a training rate of $12/hour, and our instructors earn $15-18/hour. You must be a PA resident with a valid driver’s license, and you should live within easy commuting distance of our office in North Wales, PA. We provide training to students throughout Montgomery and Bucks Counties, and to commercial fleets as far away as Harrisburg and New York City.
All instructors must undergo a thorough background check including:
- driving history (accidents and violations)
- child abuse history clearance
- FBI criminal background check and fingerprinting
- PA state criminal background check
- physical/mental fitness examination
- character reference checks
Those who meet all qualifications must also pass a written exam administered in Harrisburg and a practical driving exam (behind-the-wheel) at a local PennDOT driver testing center.
If you can meet all the requirements listed above, and would like to learn more about becoming a certified Driver Training Services Instructor, please fill out the form below and send it to us. If we’re interested, we’ll call you in for an interview. We’re looking forward to talking with you!
