WASHINGTON, D.C.—A report released today by the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) reveals that the number of 16- and 17-year-old driver deaths in passenger vehicles increased dramatically for the first six months of 2012, based on preliminary data supplied by all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Overall, 16- and 17-year-old driver deaths increased from 202 to 240 – a 19 percent jump.
U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood has announced that he will not stay on for a second term in President Obama’s cabinet. Secretary LaHood was a strong advocate for behavioral change in our nation’s drivers, and made vigorous efforts to reduce distracted and drunk driving. In a press release, the Governor’s Highway Safety Association (GHSA) said this of LaHood: “Never before had a DOT Secretary been so dedicated to addressing driver behavior, which continues to account for the vast majority of traffic deaths.”

U.S. Senator Michael Crapo, a Republican serving Idaho, was stopped by Alexandria, VA police officers at 12:45AM on Sunday for running a red light. The senator failed field sobriety tests and was taken to jail, where he was later released on bond.
On Friday, October 5, 53 cars were involved in a pileup crash on a Florida highway that injured more than 50 people. And that, apparently, was just the beginning. On Thanksgiving day, a 150-car pileup near Beaumont, Texas killed two people and injured nearly 80 others. Within the past week, an additional six pileup crashes have been reported:
I just took a call at our office from a woman who wanted to take the PA driving test, and she wanted us just to teach her how to parallel park. She didn’t want any other education, and claimed she already knew how to drive and drives around all the time.
No, we at Driver Training Services don’t actually teach toddlers how to drive. We won’t train anyone under the age of 16 behind the wheel. But as parents, you’ve been teaching your child to drive all of her life.
One teen was killed and another critically injured in a crash on Old Jacksonville Road in Northhampton Township on Saturday, December 8. The crash happened at about 2:00PM on a Saturday afternoon.
At Driver Training Services, we train hundreds of kids each year behind the wheel and in our classroom programs. We like to make the training as fun and interactive as possible while maximizing the education they receive. Periodically, we run contests and challenges for our kids.
